Client side. Every single engagement.
A business-led SAP consultancy – sitting with your business, not across the table from it.
Founded in 2003 by Big 4 alumni, an SAP services partner ever since. StepChange works with a small number of clients at a time, sitting client-side on every engagement as an extension of your business – not as a vendor across the table. We work well alongside systems integrators. We are not one.

SAP delivery since 2003
SAP consultants
Average experience per consultant
A business-led SAP consultancy, embedded client-side.
We work with a select number of clients at a time – deep focus and real accountability, acting as an extension of the client business rather than as a vendor at arm’s length.
The system fits the business
Many consultants were SAP users who became subject-matter experts before they became consultants. Clients are supported to make the system fit their business rather than being sold on what the software prefers.
ASAP and SAP Activate throughout
We use SAP ASAP and Activate methodologies, adapted to the client rather than administered to them – experienced across greenfield, brownfield and bluefield scenarios from blueprint through go-live and continuous improvement.
Without the Big 4 overhead
StepChange was founded out of one of the Big 4. Credibility and delivery discipline are the same; the badge, price tag and gap between the partner who sold the work and the team who delivers are not.
SAP Activate – and the phase that decides everything.
SAP’s own ASAP and Activate methodologies, adapted to the client rather than administered to them. Each phase has a defined output and a single question that tests whether it was done properly.
Establish the business case, the current landscape and what a fit-for-purpose solution would actually have to do.
Mobilise the team, governance and environments before configuration starts – setting test strategy and migration approach from the outset.
Validate the standard solution against real business process, and be candid about where it genuinely does not fit.
Configure, extend and integrate – with testing run as a governed discipline rather than a phase bolted on at the end.
Move the business onto the platform without breaking the things it runs on, with cutover rehearsals, go-live and hypercare.
The phase that decides whether the investment compounds or plateaus – continuous improvement, scope-drop delivery and capability transfer.
Energy, resources, utilities and agribusiness.
Each engagement is described in the terms the organisation measured it by. Where a client is identified by sector rather than name, that is by agreement.
Full SAP suite live, team retained for phase two
A two-year-plus transformation across the full SAP suite – S/4HANA, BTP, enterprise asset management, Ariba, SuccessFactors, Concur and multi-bank connectivity. Thirty consultants client-side across every discipline, with the team retained into phase two after a successful go-live in January 2024.
Test management across a RISE migration and four parallel programmes
S/4HANA RISE migration for a vertically integrated operation, with four concurrent initiatives running alongside. Cross-vendor defect triage led centrally across six test types, with testing standards and tools left with vendor and client resources after go-live in May 2025.
Hire-to-retire on SuccessFactors for a workforce that triples at harvest
Full SuccessFactors HCM suite for a major co-operative with 1,400 permanent employees and up to 2,000 casuals at harvest. Employee Central Payroll, Recruiting, Onboarding, Learning and Performance deployed, aligned to the S/4HANA financial system – replacing manual, email-based HR processes.
Seven domains, from transformation to the years after it.
Organised around what organisations ask us to take on. Three commitments run through all of them.
Client-side, always
We sit with your business on every engagement, working alongside the systems integrator rather than as one — so our advice is not shaped by a build contract.
Business before software
Consultants who were users before they were consultants, making the system fit the business rather than selling the business on the system.
A few clients at a time
A deliberate constraint. It is what allows the seniority and the coverage a transformation of this size actually needs.
Seven domains — select any one to see the detail.
Have someone in the room who isn’t selling you the build.
Whether it is an ECC deadline you have to answer, a RISE migration to plan, a programme that needs test management nobody owns, or an implementation that went live and left the business behind – talk to the consultants who would do the work.
